About 30 students and faculty members attended Student Senate's quarterly Pizza with the Provost last night.
Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl facilitated a discussion and fielded questions about the university's sustainability programming. Most of the night's focus was on the Department of Environmental Studies' Kanawha Project.
The Kanawha Project focuses on training professors from various academic departments to include sustainability in their curriculum. Last year the project worked with 20 professors and organizers hope to match that number this year.
Project coordinator Loraine McCosker said that the program is still recruiting participants for its faculty workshop in December. Faculty members must attend the annual workshop and adjust course syllabi to incorporate environmental curriculum to participate.-
said Morrone, But we feel that there's interest among students in including environmental issues in other undergraduate courses.
