Renée Middleton, dean of Ohio University’s Patton College of Education, has been elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
The Board of Directors, comprising eight college education leaders, heads teacher preparation programs.
"I am honored to receive this appointment," Middleton said. "It is a vote of confidence from my teacher-education colleagues across the nation."
Sharon Robinson, president and CEO of AACTE, said Middleton is an active participant. Middleton served as a member of the association's Committee on Research and Dissemination and organized the curriculum for the AACTE Leadership Academy, according to a news release.
“We look forward to the energy, passion and guidance (Middleton) will bring to the AACTE Board of Directors,” Robinson said in the release.
The AACTE is a national alliance devoted to promoting the highest quality educational leaders for preschoolers to twelfth graders.
The Board of Directors is responsible for researching professional education topics, as well as overseeing the AACTE accountability, budget and annual audit.
"Joining (AACTE's) governance body allows me to add my energy to this important work and, as a result, gives me great pride," Middleton said.
Along with her election to the Board of Directors, Middleton is a member and elected leader of the State University Education Deans, as well as other statewide panels.
Her contributions to the Patton College include leadership of OU’s teacher preparation programs and oversight of the restructuring of the college, which extended the prominence of the college’s graduate and undergraduate programs, according to the release.
