Elon Musk unveils SpaceX’s commercial Starship to the Moon and Mars; Grammy award-winning musician Chris Thile to perform at OU on Tuesday

Today is Monday, Sept. 30, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has unveiled the Starship Mk1, which he hopes will be able to take its first passengers off planet Earth within a year, and eventually to the moon and even Mars.

The eccentric billionaire shared his vision for Starship this Saturday along with its new Super Heavy booster (yes, that is its actual name). Starship will be able to seat 100 people, and its first trip around the moon is scheduled to take place some time in the early 2020s.

Musk doesn’t want to stop at the moon, however. He plans Starship to eventually reach Mars, touting the spacecraft as “the fastest path to a self-sustaining city on Mars.”

“This is, I think, the most inspiring thing I have ever seen," Musk said Saturday. "Wow, what an incredible job by such a great team to build this incredible vehicle. I'm so proud to work with such a great team."
