Police Blotter: Man shoots guns near road; bar fight broken up


Careful which dog you pet

A dog bite was reported on State Route 124, in Coolville, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, a deputy spoke with a witness and a report was taken.

Was that an issue?

A man riding an electric unicycle was reported on North Plains Road, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies searched the area but did not find the reported man.

Simply Don’t Answer Them

An individual reported receiving emails from attempted scammers, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies talked to the caller and suggested multiple options to resolve the issue.

You’re not Supposed to Drive There

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a property damage complaint, in Trimble Township. Upon arrival, deputies talked to the caller and discovered their fence was struck by a box truck earlier in the evening. 

The fence was damaged and photos were taken to document the damage.

BAAAA

A herd of goats was reported to be roaming on State Route 329, in Trimble, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to find the goats.

Target practice?

Deputies responded to the intersection of Vore Ridge Road and State Route 691, in Athens, regarding gunshots being reported according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies searched the area but did not hear any gunshots.

They also spoke with several individuals outside, who said they had not heard any shots. 

Maybe Look Around First 

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of stolen tools in Amesville. Later, the man who originally made the report called back and informed deputies that his wife had moved the tools but he had found them.

Don’t Leave Your Car Lying Around

An abandoned vehicle was reported on Luhrig Road, in Athens, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies tried to reach the vehicle’s owner, but were unable to make contact. 

The vehicle was later removed from the road and deputies returned to patrol.

Not Your Argument

A dispute was reported by a third-party on Barbour Street, in Athens, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded and spoke with two people at the scene. 

The individuals told deputies no argument happened and they did not find any evidence indicating a dispute.

Fight Club?

Deputies responded to the Ice House Tavern, in Nelsonville, to assist the Nelsonville Police Department to break up a large bar fight, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies assisted until dismissed by the NPD.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received reports of harassment from two subjects, with each accusing the other. Deputies found the issue was civil and explained the methods of action to each complainant.

Dog Gone Wild

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report complaining of a barking dog in Athens Township. Deputies patrolled the area and found a dog barking in a home’s back yard. 

Deputies talked to the resident and requested the dog be quieted down. Upon returning to patrol, deputies no longer heard barking. 

Lock Your Doors

A trespassing complaint was reported on Center Street, in Trimble, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. The owner of the property requested deputies to perform extra patrols in the area at night, as an individual was repeatedly going on her porch.

Interesting Place to Practice

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hunter Road, in Glouster, regarding a man reported to be firing a handgun near the road. Deputies informed the man he should not fire his gun near the road.

Don’t Think You Meant to Leave That

An employee at CeeDee’s Carryout discovered a bag of powdery substance in the store, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. The substance was collected by deputies to be destroyed.
