What your favorite OU Academic Achievement Center resource says about you

At Ohio University, students are lucky enough to have plenty of academic resources, including the Academic Achievement Center, or the AAC, in Alden Library. With an array of resources such as academic coaching, peer tutoring and supplemental instruction, there’s no doubt that students at least have one favorite to attend to during the school year.

If you’re a frequent student at the AAC, or just simply curious, here is what your favorite OU Academic Achievement Center resource says about you:

Academic Coaching

You’re someone who worries a lot about being organized in school, using others for help to give you advice on what devices or strategies to use during the year. You like Academic Coaching for its one-on-one aspect, but also because you get to connect with your academic coach in a comfortable and warm environment. You like structure, so you stick to going weekly, enjoying the idea of getting to inform your coach about your academic successes and stressors. All in all, you are always seen at academic coaching for its reliable nature, as well as its stress-free approach.

Peer Tutoring

You prefer working one-on-one instead of in a group setting, which is what you like best about Peer Tutoring. You don’t like to reveal much to your friends or peers about your academics, but you do like telling someone new about your triumphs and struggles. You find solace in attending tutoring sessions, as they give you hope and inspire you to keep working hard in a class that may be challenging. You like connection and familiarity, and this resource provides both of those things for you.

Supplemental Instruction

Unlike Peer Tutoring, you like working in a group setting much more than one-on-one with someone new. You tend to thrive in an academic setting that allows you to ask questions, work with your friends and go through problems as a group. You also like this resource because of its laid-back setting, unafraid to ask for help when needed. You like Supplemental Instruction because it doesn’t feel like you’re studying, but instead, is more fun and worthy of your time. People even see you recommend this resource to others, especially since they tend to be on a weekly basis.

Writing Commons

You’re someone who likes to be prepared, especially when it comes to writing a paper. Because of this fact about you, you like to go to the Writing Commons in order to get the help you need so your assignments are polished and well-written. You value your writing a lot, always wanting to improve. You enjoy getting to work with the staff in this space, as they encourage you to keep working hard, as well as show you how to use constructive criticism to your advantage. If you use this resource, you may be an English or journalism major, or you may just be someone who always has to write papers throughout the year.

Homework Hubs

Homework Hubs are for students who like to get extra help whenever they can for the harder classes they’re in, usually math or science-related. You like attending these because they are also in a group setting, with tutors there to help you along the way. They’re also a low time commitment, usually only two hours at most once or twice a week. Additionally, you like asking questions, wanting to find the answers first by working through your struggles. Without this resource, you would not have been able to get through some of your classes, and because of this, you recommend it to everyone you know on campus.
