This year has been an exciting time in live music as the concert-going experience has returned to its somewhat normal state after tours and concerts were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In this brand new era of live music, artists are taking the stage after several years with new music and new surprises for their fans. We’re officially full swing into Fall Semester, with classes picking up pace and schedules filling up in the blink of an eye. It can seem a bit much some days, and we are forever grateful for when there’s even an hour of downtime. In that time, it’s always nice to just snuggle up in bed and put on a nice, feel-good film.

This past Saturday, I was able to see the award-winning, pop-punk powerhouse band Fall Out Boy at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was a dream come true for me since this was my first time seeing my all-time favorite band front and center in the pit. I was crying, screaming and dancing the whole time. Nevertheless, here’s the breakdown of Fall Out Boy’s Cincinnati stop on their North American “So Much For (Tour)dust” tour.

Summer is the prime time to head outdoors, take a hike and explore nature at its height during its growing season. However, if you’re anything like me, you would rather stay inside in a cool air-conditioned space and watch movies all day. Luckily for you, I compiled a list of the top five best summer camp slasher movies to watch all summer long (or rather at night) in your cool, bug-free environment. Spoilers ahead!

Summer is the perfect time to be hanging out with your friends, cruising through the city with the windows down and blasting music at an ear-damaging level. Mercy Music’s new album, “What You Stand To Lose” (Double Helix Records/SBÄM Records), is an exceptional example of this type of vibe if you’re looking for a high-energy, pop-rock sound for your summer playlist.

Summer break is the prime time to sit back, relax and enjoy some of your favorite media from your childhood. If you were anything like me, I spent a lot of my childhood summers watching children's television programs like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and, my personal favorite, Disney Channel.

It’s been 20 years since Fall Out Boy released their first studio album, “Take This to Your Grave,” on May 6, 2003. The album has gained world-wide popularity and inspired bands such as Panic! At The Disco and Waterparks. On Rolling Stone’s list of “The 50 Greatest Pop-Punk Albums,” it is ranked fifth among albums like Blink-182’s “Dude Ranch” (1997) and Green Day’s “Dookie” (1994).

It’s been over a month since I was able to attend the world premiere of “Evil Dead Rise” at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. It has been extremely difficult to hold in the amount of excitement I have toward this movie since I saw it front and center at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. Fortunately, the horror film was released in theaters last Friday, and now everyone can finally see it.

It’s been two years since Waterparks released its last album, “Greatest Hits,” in 2021. In those two years, the band has gone on tour around the world and teased/released singles for their upcoming album. On Friday, the band finally released its fifth studio record, “INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.”

Recording, performing or practicing covers of songs is an integral part of starting and growing as a musical artist. In fact, many artists, like Alien Ant Farm or Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, are known for their covers of other songs. Some may argue that their covers are better than the original, but that debate can be explored in another article.

Fall Out Boy’s five-year-long wait for its new record was certainly worth it, as the new album is absolutely stellar.

Halloween is officially seven months away. If you’re anything like me, you simply cannot wait for the spooky season and want nothing more than that crisp fall weather to return. Fortunately, the changing of the seasons is in full swing as winter slowly turns to spring.

Emo-rap has hit the mainstream over the past few years as it fuses two different styles of alternative music styles together: emo and rock. Artists like Lil Peep, Twenty One Pilots and Juice WRLD have garnered success from implementing hip-hop style techniques into their rock-based sound. It’s a unique genre of music that has defined many artists. One band rose to fame in the early 2000s by implementing such techniques in their music style.

It’s been five months since Pierce The Veil made its return to the scene with their single, “Pass The Nirvana.” In that time span, they released two more singles, “Emergency Contact” and “Even When I’m Not With You,” and announced the title of their fifth studio album, “The Jaws Of Life.” On Friday (Feb. 10), “The Jaws Of Life” was finally released to all streaming platforms, and fans could not be more ecstatic.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Whether you’re in a relationship or single, it’s a special time when we can appreciate our loved ones and speak to one another’s love languages. You may ask: what is a love language? According to mbgrelationships, “The five love languages are five different ways of expressing and receiving love: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service and physical touch.”

On Jan. 24, Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco officially announced the band’s breakup on their social media platforms. It was surprising to most fans, as they had recently released a record merely five months prior but not completely out of the left field for others. There were rumors circling the Internet of Urie having a child (thanks to Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy who accidentally posted a picture of their baby announcement on Instagram), which he announced as his reasoning for bringing the band to a close.

It’s been five years since Fall Out Boy released their seventh studio album, “MANIA” (2018), and almost four years since they have released any new music at all (i.e. their three-track EP, “Lake Effect Kid” (2018) and 2019 greatest hits compilation, “Believers Never Die Vol. 2”). Although the band had been touring in those past few years (post-quarantine in 2021), namely on their area tour with Green Day and Weezer on The Hella Mega Tour, the fans were desperately pleading for new music.

On this day 19 years ago, Blink-182 released their fifth studio album, “Blink-182” (also known as “untitled”). Considered to be the band’s “Pet Sounds,” “untitled” is one of the band’s most experimental albums as it pivots from the band’s usual pop-punk sound to a more “emo” sound that was the catalyst for several other emo bands of that time, like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. Even with the change in sound, critics and fans alike find the album to be one of the most influential albums of the 2000s as it defined a new wave of music genre. To celebrate the record’s 19th birthday, we will look at its commercial success, defining tracks and overall impact on pop culture.
