The Ohio University Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, University Band and the Marching 110 performed in the annual Band-O-Rama on Thursday.
On Saturday, Athens locals were invited to explore tables and clothing racks set up in the Fairfield by Marriott Inn and Suites hotel. Happy Snacking collaborated with the Fairfield Inn to host the No Spend Holiday Market.
The Appalachian Center for Economic Networks’ holiday mart featured a large range of local business clients, inviting Athens’ residents to shop locally and further explore the neighborhood’s small business scene.
The OU Ski and Snow Sports Club is a community of skiers and snowboarders who want to provide students with a space for those of all skill levels to enjoy skiing in the most affordable way possible. The club is a place for Bobcats to either learn how to ski or to improve their skills and connect with like-minded people on multiple trips per year.
The Burrito Buggy is continuing to provide the Athens community with Mexican cuisine local residents have been loving since 1984. This famous food truck gains the attention from several loyal fans and businesses, offering its catering services to those anywhere in the state of Ohio, and continuing to fill hungry bellies with both of its food trucks.
As finals approach, residents and students have plenty of relaxing events to attend before the semester ends and the holidays arrive.
Neighborhood and student leaders started a chapter of Strong Towns in Athens. The non-profit organization strives to revamp towns and encourage public service.
Ohio University contacted the Skate Club to inform it of a policy violation, and ordered the removal of its ramps, pipes and boxes from the South Green Basketball Courts. The skater community is currently trying to get an exception from the university, as the loss of the courts would leave skaters without access to an accessible practice area.
As the Athens Turkey Trot finished, locals sipped hot chocolate and socialized. Funds collected from the race supported youth athletics and other Athens running events.
OU’s historical Marching 110 is celebrating 50 years of women being readmitted in the band.
The 14th annual Benefest fundraiser raised money for Stuart’s Opera House and The Gathering Place with features from many local bands and artists.
Create to Donate, hosted by The Dairy Barn Arts Center, allows attendees to express themselves creatively and give back to those who need support in the community.

The holiday is a time to express gratitude for loved ones and family members, and is a day filled with good food and celebration. Athens is offering many dinners and community meals for those staying in town this Thanksgiving.
Bakery 323 is a local business owned and operated by Ohio University alumnus Cameron Kasler, who is dedicated to serving Athens a range of unique and flavorful cupcakes and other goodies. Since its opening in 2021, Bakery 323 has been delivering cupcakes to hungry Bobcats and catering for events and celebrations.
Rhapsody Restaurant has been teaching the culinary students of Hocking College for over 25 years, giving them the skills and experience they need to break into the industry after graduation. Rhapsody Restaurant provides a menu catered to everyone and offers lessons for students.
More than 40 artisans showcased handmade work at this year’s Holiday Shoppe, hosted by the Athens Art Guild. The Shoppe also featured live performances and a raffle.
