Post Letter: Homecoming theme was largely ignored

Having just completed my 37th consecutive Homecoming Parade, marching with the Ohio University Marching Band for five years then with the Alumni Band, I hurried into town to get my copy of the three local papers only to find there was NO coverage of the alumni band whatsoever! Two of our three local papers have three pictures of the current band. Another has one small picture of the current band. I don’t know why I was expecting more, as this is the way it is every year.

Post Column: Sophia's Chinerica: American fast food doesn't stop at border

Before I arrived in Germany, I had some preliminary impressions of the Germans — for instance, their pride in their food and culture. But, for two weeks in Leipzig, I’ve been stunned by the number of people lining up to eat American fast food — there are always huge lines at the McDonald’s in Leipzig’s city center.

Post Letter: Obama visit explained by indifference

It was a chaotic few minutes when I first found out that President Barack Obama was coming here to Ohio University. I honestly couldn’t process it at first, but once everything settled down, I stopped for a moment and asked myself why would he come to Athens, Ohio, three weeks out from the election? It’s actually not that complicated of a reason.

Post Letter: Marching 110 alumni upset with coverage

Homecoming at OU has come and gone.  The largest alumni band in memory attended, marched and performed. There were nearly 700 band alumni. I am wondering where the pictures are of this magnificent group of people of all ages, people who came from many parts of the country and managed to get through the rigorous marching and dancing after all these years of ordinary life. I see no pictures in our local newspapers, and I am shocked. Pictures of the current band show up, but none of the remarkable alumni band.
