Back Talk: Petrich talks hometown, karaoke, goals

Shalene Petrich sat down with The Post's Rob Mixer to talk about everything from her favorite thing about Athens to iPod karaoke. The Chehalis, Wash., native is hitting .321 and is second on the team in walks with 11. The center fielder also leads the team with a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000 in 33 games.

Your Turn: Senate naysayers need to offer realistic solutions

Hippies, tree-huggers and socialists of Ohio University ... enough. You know who you are. To be quite frank, I am fed up with all of your pissing and moaning about our current Student Senate. You whine, you complain and you constantly degrade our elected student voices instead of offering your own ideas to make it better. Some of you are clearly still bitter about the results of last year's election (It was so unfortunate that group of student representatives wasn't elected that would have resorted to anarchist characteristics). So, stop trying to make a scene and maybe try collaborating with our current senate to form a better student voice.

That's What She Said: New mobile TV to let viewers access shows from cars, cell phones

The day I brought home my DVR, or digital video recorder, box was a momentous occasion in my life. So imagine my delight to read an online article announcing that mobile television will be available to consumers in the United States by the end of the year.

Your Turn: Rally, march show support for assault, rape victims

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Take Back the Night Week in Athens. In 1979 the Athens Women's Collective, a group of community women, joined together as part of a national movement by marching in the streets, raising awareness about violence against women and take back the night. As this year's Women's Affairs Commissioner on Student Senate and organizer of Take Back the Night Week, I would like to extend an invitation to everyone in Athens to come to the Rally and March at 7 p.m. at West Portico Thursday.

Musicians and bands often spring up in Athens during the years students attend Ohio University, but some are able to continue success after graduation. OU alumni Mike Genovese and Danny Johnson are each working to carve out an individual niche in the music industry.
