According to a new policy Ohio University's Office of Student Affairs will forward all allegations of hazing - regardless of the complaints' vagueness or anonymity - to the Ohio University Police Department. At that point, OUPD has the discretionary power to determine the legality of any reported improper hazing practices. The university should be commended for its restructuring of its protocol to ensure that all accusations are treated equally and that anonymous sources are taken seriously.

Think of the children

A proposed bill to prevent gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens from adopting children - or serving as foster parents - has been introduced to the Ohio House of Representatives. Under the pretense of the bigoted stigma denouncing same-sex parenting as harmful based solely on sexual orientation, this bill is a grim reflection of unwarranted lawmaking at its pinnacle. With no real evidence supporting the reduction of homosexual and transgender individuals' civil rights, the bill seems to be an attempt to legislate right-wing religious beliefs rather than to consider the best interests of the thousands of Ohio children in state and county custody.

The question of whether or not Arab-bashing is newsworthy in today's political climate is only the context of the problems present in the layout of The Post's front page. The choice of the image of anti-Christian violence for the comic strip story demonstrates that your paper is more interested in stereotypical Arab-demonization and the emotional manipulation of the readership through fear than it is in relevant issues.

Ohio thrower returns home from Iraq
