Good Morning,
While the internet was recovering from Friday’s DDOS cyber attacks, which interrupted major websites such as Amazon, Reddit and Netflix, Ohio University was dealing with its own power issues.
On Saturday, OU’s campus went dark for nearly two hours before services were restored.
The cause of the power outage wasn’t the weather, Russia or hackers.
It was a squirrel. A cute, fluffy squirrel.
The Ohio University Police Department confirmed the squirrel’s role in the outage in a tweet.
Cause of the power outage @ohiou has been identified as a squirrel that ignored a high voltage warning sign. Always heed warning signs.

This is OU’s second squirrel-related power incident to occur in the past year. Last November, a squirrel caused a three-hour power outage that resulted in widespread class cancellations.
R.I.P. Power Squirrel. You weren’t the first to go this way, and you’re probably not the last.
