However, results showed that this occurred most prominently in states like Florida and Ohio rather than as a collective nation. With an impressive turnout of over 50% of registered voters, voting results revealed a statewide shift toward the right.

OU’s Communications and Development Studies Department, or CommDev, celebrated its 35th anniversary with a series of cultural evenings, both Nov. 14 and Nov. 15, kicking off International Education Week. CommDev comprises a wide range of globally diverse students, many of whom helped plan for this celebration. The International Open Stage Performance occurred at Grover Center on November 15th.

Over 150 years ago, President Abraham Lincoln acknowledged the fourth Thursday of each November as the national holiday of Thanksgiving. However, the holiday’s history spans back even farther than the 1621 feast that is traditionally taught in schools. As far back as 1565, Spanish peoples arrived in Florida to colonize what is now St. Augustine where they would sing religious songs and share a feast with Natives. Historians also recognize the observance of several other Thanksgiving celebrations including one in Texas in 1598 and another in Maine in 1607. Despite that, the table shared by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag peoples is the most famous, or perhaps, infamous.

This Friday is a lucky day to be a Marvel fan and Ohio University Student. Thanks to OU’s Division of Diversity and Inclusion, Multicultural Center, Black Student Cultural Programming Board, Student Senate and the Office of the President, all three theaters at the Athena Cinema have been rented out for free screenings of Marvel’s “Wakanda Forever” to all who have an Ohio ID.
