Almost everyone has witnessed the video of the controversial slap that occurred at the 2022 Academy Awards between Will Smith and Chris Rock. This incident sparked controversy all over the nation as people are picking sides between who they think is right. Most defenders of Will Smith are using the argument that Chris Rock shouldn’t have made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s Alopecia, which has caused hair loss. However, Rock fans argue that comedy is not reason enough to get so upset.

Moon Knight has been one of my most anticipated Marvel series since it was announced at the D23 Expo in 2019, and that was well before it was announced that Oscar Isaac would be taking on the titular role. Personally, my excitement stemmed from Moon Knight’s characterization; he has a darker, more violent temperament than most others in the MCU. Of course, that was well before the TV-MA-rated Netflix shows, like Daredevil and Punisher, made their way over to the Disney streaming service. The 2019 announcement of Moon Knight occurred even prior to the release of Wandavision, which revealed the emerging Marvel-Disney+ template.

Isaac King looked to the shaggy-haired drummer, quickly fixed his gray baseball cap and pushed his glasses closer to his face before strumming the first melancholy chord of “Pool House” by The Backseat Lovers. King and the drummer shared a brief moment, smiling at each other, before the band launched into a slow melody that mirrored the left-out-feeling lyrics of the song. King looked down to ensure his fingers were in the right place on his maroon bass guitar before each chord. As the intensity of the instrumentals increased, he and the other members started moving and rocking along to the indie-rock music more and more.

In the midst of several reboots being done by Disney’s streaming platform, Cheaper By the Dozen is one of the dozen movies being rebooted. There have been many establishments of the original novel made in 1948, but this newly released reboot mostly resembles the adaptation made in 2003, starring Steve Martin. Disney’s new adaptation of the story is substantially useless but offers the retelling with an interracial family, one of the only good qualities of this messy remake.

Shamrock-clad students flooded Court Street for Green Beer Day on March 2, but the emerald and forest-green extravaganza wasn’t the only holiday this week. March 4 is not a day many have marked on their calendar, but it highlights a historic campus tradition. Hidetaka Miyazaki’s considerable catalog has garnered a pretty ruthless reputation for its extravagantly high difficulty. The gaming auteur, who has been responsible for directing most of the studio FromSoftware’s most recognizable games since 2009’s Demon’s Souls, is known for including unfair traps, massive difficulty spikes, and unrelenting boss fights in his games. All of that is present in his newest title, Elden Ring, but somehow it all feels very… nice.

Dark humor is a staple of difficult conversations. Often, when students need to discuss or disclose something upsetting to one another, a grim joke accompanies the information to help it land more softly. Joking about one’s own trauma can be jarring, but it is a normal reaction. Joking about another’s, however, is less appropriate. While the war in Ukraine is jarring to everyone, posting jokes about the crisis is unproductive and inconsiderate.

Sydney Sweeney can really do it all. At just 24-years-old, she has impressively achieved more than you might think. Unlike her role as Cassie in Euphoria, she came from a supportive family and was a very active and accomplished young girl. She grew up in northwestern Idaho, where she lived in her family’s lakeside home.

Netflix’s documentary series on the career of Kanye West, Jeen-Yuhs, is coming out at an awkward time, to say the least. Having begun life in 2008, just a year after the first Uncharted game was released, this long-awaited and long-delayed adaptation of the highly acclaimed video game had a lot to live up to — not only because of the quality of the source material but also because of the amount of time that had passed. Having gone through six different directors, and just as many scripts in a 12-year span, the film was stuck in development hell. It was in development for so long that Mark Wahlberg went from being cast in the leading role of Nathan Drake to the role of the older mentor character of Victor Sullivan, or Sully, in its current incarnation.

If there's anything the filmgoing public has learned in the last several years, it’s that James Gunn is the king of writing satisfying arcs for problematic protagonists. Whether it’s Dawn of the Dead (2004), the Guardians of the Galaxy films or The Suicide Squad, Gunn proved this fact several times over. He cements it even further with Peacemaker.

Holocaust revisionism, also known as Holocaust distortion, is a tenet of Holocaust denial. Revisionism is an attempt at rewriting history, so that the genocide by the hands of the Nazis seems less horrific, and more like an invention or an exaggeration by the Jewish people.
