Finals week is approaching, and as a schoolwork-swamped, stressed-out college student, pre-finals anxiety is almost inevitable. Unfortunately, sometimes this anxiety is unavoidable, as many of us are concerned about doing well on these last exams to end the semester with a bang. Despite this nearly inescapable apprehension, there are things that can be done to lessen it.

Being a college student is arguably one of the most unpredictable roles to play, because as students, we are forced to balance multiple different aspects of life all at the same time. This struggle of constant business can easily cause us to get lost in the mix of everyday life, which then has the ability to cause the plans that we have for our lives to inevitably change.

Being college students, the chaotic events, what seem to be endless struggles, and sometimes debilitating emotions we deal with on a daily basis cause a great deal of stress in our lives. A good portion of the time, however, the things that cause us the greatest amount of distress are the ones that we have no control over.

One of the most commonly used phrases among the population of millennial college students has got to be that we are all just “broke college students.” We use that phrase quite often, mainly as a joke and a way of referring to ourselves. Being taken advantage of is arguably one of the worst things that could ever happen to a person. Why? Well, when someone uses you, takes advantage of you or takes for granted the things that you have done for them, it can really mess with your head and make you feel as though you are not good enough and that there is something wrong with you. In actuality, however, it is most definitely not you; it’s them.

In a lot of situations, procrastination is a pretty big part of a college student’s life. Let’s be honest, whether it may have been due to lack of time, lack of motivation or just pure laziness, we’ve all procrastinated the workload we have acquired at one point or another. And let’s also be honest about the fact that in the times we have procrastinated, there is a possibility the results of those situations did not turn out so well.
