On Wednesday night, Ohio women’s basketball announced on its website that it would be adding transfer players Anyssa Jones and Aliah McWhorter for the 2024-25 season. Both Jones and McWhorter will join the team as graduate students in their last year of eligibility.

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Athens, Ohio, at Bob Wren Stadium. Packed with eager fans, Ohio (13-25 overall, 8-15 Mid-American Conference) had a matchup with conference opponent Toledo (20-23 overall, 13-10 MAC). Unfortunately for the fans in attendance, Ohio’s bright and sunny day quickly turned gloomy and overcast with Ohio losing 16-2.

It had been exactly a month since Ohio (12-24, 7-14 Mid-American Conference) last won a game at its home field of Bob Wren Stadium until Tuesday night’s 4-2 victory over Morehead State (23-18, 8-7 Ohio Valley Conference). Ohio’s last home victory took place on March 23 against Central Michigan in a blowout win by a score of 18-3.

Ohio snapped its nine-game losing streak after a series victory over the weekend on the road against Eastern Michigan. Ohio was able to win the final two games of the series after falling in game one of the series.

After the final out during Tuesday night’s nonconference matchup with Northern Kentucky, the scoreboard read 11-8 in favor of the Norse. Ohio had just lost its eighth straight game, and body language and energy from the Ohio dugout seemed to be at an all-time low.
