Celebrate Women Conference at 8:30 a.m., hosted virtually by Ohio University Lancaster in partnership with OU Chillicothe, OU Eastern, OU Southern and OU Zanesville. Network with, learn from and celebrate women at the 15th annual Celebrate Women Conference. More than 30 speakers are slated to speak at the event. The keynote speaker is Alison Levine, team captain of the first American Women's Everest Expedition and businesswoman.

Two art exhibits, “Legacy: Don Adleta and Karen Nulf, 60 years of Graphic Design” and “REACH: 50+ Years of Works by OHIO Graphic Design Alumni” are honoring the creativity and strength of OU’s graphic design program. “Legacy” is on display through March 28 at the Kennedy Museum of Art. “REACH” ran through March 6 at the Trisolini Gallery and is currently available for viewing online.

Southeast Ohio Fiberworks February Wool and Fiber Arts Sale at 10 a.m., hosted virtually by Southeast Ohio Fiberworks. Support local artisans by shopping at the virtual wool and fiber arts sale. Products are made and sourced in Southeastern Ohio. There will also be a live segment of the sale in which shoppers can meet the vendors online.

Jeremy Williams, an assistant professor of geology at Kent State University, presented a virtual Ohio University Geology Colloquium lecture about "Understanding the Inevitable: Great Dying Event" Friday, Feb. 19. Examining the past through the lens of the largest mass extinction on Earth, Williams sought to deliver a “warning” about the future to the science field.

Linguistics Colloquium | The Southern Ohio Language Project: Where We Are Today at 12:55 p.m., hosted virtually by Ohio University’s College of Arts and Sciences. Ohio University faculty Nathaniel Szewczyk and Sarah Wyatt recently had their research published by NASA in a collection of papers titled The biology of spaceflight. The collection is considered to be the largest set of astronaut and space biology data ever produced. However, this was not the first time either Szewczyk or Wyatt has worked with the prestigious aeronautics agency.

On Feb. 1, Ohio University will recognize World Hijab Day with an educational social media campaign, using the hashtag #WorldHijabDayOHIO. Throughout the day, discussions of women’s experiences with hijab and Islamophobia will be hosted on both Instagram and Twitter.

Women of Appalachia Project™ Fine Art Exhibition at 12 p.m., hosted by The Dairy Barn Arts Center, 8000 Dairy Ln. Explore art created by a diverse group of women. The Women of Appalachia Project encourages the making of art that shares artists’ culture and experiences, addressing issues of stereotypes and marginalization. The art creates “a force, unified and non-violently confrontational, to show the whole woman, beyond superficial factors often used to judge her.” Jan. 29 is the opening day of the exhibition.

Physics Colloquium: Special Relativity and Optical Control of Chemistry at 4:10 p.m., hosted by Ohio University’s College of Arts and Sciences online. Join Prashant K. Jain, a chemistry professor and scholar of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, for a discussion about his research. Jain will describe how special relativistic effects as manifested in the electronic structure of gold are at the heart of the optically induced conversion of CO2 to hydrocarbon fuels.
