Letter: One ticket shows support for women

As feminists, we are aware that patriarchy affects everyone and that its impacts are not limited to women. Last semester, ONE presidential candidate Jordan Ballinger came to a Feminist Equality Movement meeting and immediately participated in discussion. Since then he has become an active member who has shown dedication to feminism and feminist causes at and beyond the Ohio University campus.

Letter: Restart embodies progress that campus needs

I will admit that I, too, had been indifferent toward student politics prior to this election. As it has been said countless times before, the student government has been worthless, incapable of making any real impact in regard to student issues. I was previously cynical toward the Restart campaign, thinking the goals too lofty, the plans too fragile and idealistic. But one cannot deny the passionate fervor with which the leaders of this group pursue their objectives, nor can one deny the national and international support and messages of solidarity directed toward the Student Union. I realize now that my thinking was shortsighted, that I allowed my mindset to be limited by what is known and safe. Progress will march forward without regard for those clinging to the conventions of the past, and this idea of progress is what Restart advocates.

Letter: Next Student Senate should improve OU's readership program

The three parties currently running for Student Senate clearly have a lot of issues they want to focus on if elected, but while there are several ideas floating around for future senate initiatives, I hope that all three tickets will consider reforming and expanding one initiative already put in place: the Bobcat Readership Program.
