Post Letter: Pledge: Do not protect rich from higher taxes

Grover Norquist has maneuvered behind the scenes, threatening Republican members of Congress with primary election challenges in 2012 unless they pledge to vote against any tax increases on millionaires and billionaires.  41 Republican senators and 238 representatives have signed that pledge, but the only legitimate pledge for elected officials to sign is to preserve, protect and defend the U.S. and its Constitution. Absent the Norquist pledge, Congress would have achieved reasonable compromises on budgetary matters.

Welcome!

Welcome to The Post Design Blog! Unbeknownst to many, a team of 15 designers works to produce meaningful, informative and eye-catching layouts and graphics for the paper each day. We believe that the best way to tell a story is when words and visual elements work together, and we try our best to find the most effective solution for every story we put in the paper. Every element you see on the page has been thoughtfully chosen and positioned to best convey the story’s message. This site will be used to highlight these graphics and page layouts created by the design staff, as well as to document our special projects. Check back here each Friday for the “Pick of the Week,” and be sure to pick up a printed copy of The Post every day class is in session.

Post Letter: OU gives Marching 110 little play at bowl game

This is in response to a post I read on a former student’s Facebook page. She is a member of your “cherished” Marching 110. I say “cherished” because I feel that unless you are a part of that band, or have been a part of that band, you no longer have a claim to the honor of being proud of the band.

Deck the Green: Your guide to holiday events in Athens

Deck the Green: Where to bring in the New Year

With many of the holiday celebrations now behind us, it’s time for a much anticipated event – New Year’s Eve. This day is synonymous with popping bubbly and masquerading in glitter-infused attire (for the ladies, at least) at late-nights shenanigans. And while selecting the choice sparkling is high on the NYE list, the focus of this evening is where you celebrate, because you’ll most likely remain there until the early hours of the morning to ring in the new year.
