Feminist fights body-hating tendencies in women

Tonight, author Courtney Martin will talk in Baker University Center Theatre about body image, and the problems faced by both men and women as body hating becomes normal for today's young adults. She will also hold a similar, less formal event tomorrow, a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn at the Ohio University Women's Center. Both events are a part of OU's Diversity Week.

Post Letter: Headline demeaning to rape victim, readers

As a faithful reader of The Post for the past year and a half, I never fail to feel heartbroken when I read articles that report rape on campus or in the surrounding Athens area. The Post continually and (I must assume at this point) intentionally employs disingenuous and frankly, harmful language when writing about the rapes of women at Ohio University. Wednesday's article on page three, Woman Says Raped at Riverpark is a prime example of this newspaper's frequent, thoughtless reporting techniques.

Post Letter: Committee seeks applicants for next trustee

I appreciate attention brought to the student trustee selection process because student trustee is an immensely important position at this university, especially in a time of budget changes. That said, I have a few points of clarification. I would like to note the composition of the selection committee is new this year. It has six positions open for those who are not a part of Student Senate - our goal was to have a broader range of input for the trustee selection process.

Post Letter: Men should support march from sidelines

As a man, and as a feminist, I was frustrated by a recent letter in The Post arguing for the inclusion of men in Take Back the Night. The author, Molly Shea, is not alone in this sentiment; there are many others who would agree. In this letter I would like to make a counter-argument that men should not be allowed to march during Take Back the Night.

Senate extends deadline for future trustee

Student Senate has pushed back the application deadline for what is arguably the most influential student position at Ohio University, having received only one application for next year's open student trustee position.

Post Letter: OU event successful for several charities

Thank you for including the picture of the Bare On The Bricks event in the Monday edition of The Post. However, the photo headline and caption suggested that the event was a fraternity event to collect clothing items for Haiti relief. This is not entirely inaccurate, but misses several key points.

Post Letter: Hipster column flops

Yesterday I leafed through The Post because I hadn't read it in a long time, and I wanted to see what has changed. This was a mistake. I came across John Nero's hipster column. I was reminded why I never read The Post. This column is frivolous and inflammatory.
