City council discusses city land use permits

Councilmember Solveig Spjeldnes, D-1st ward, offered several solutions to appease both parties, such as moving the location of the fence further back with a gate and bushes surrounding it. Doing this would cause less of a disturbance to neighbors and still allow people to camp on the property.

OU Foundation donations near $40 million

Within the foundation, there are over 2,000 different funds donors can contribute to the different areas, including undergraduate scholarships, various programs, university athletic teams and more, Samantha Pelham, a university spokesperson said.

Unknown completion date for ACSD soccer fields

Athens City School District Superintendent, Tom Gibbs, said the timeline for the finished soccer fields is unknown because the only thing done so far is basic groundwork. He added that the land still needs to be seeded and a fence needs to be installed.

OU acceptance rates continue to increase

Vice President of Enrollment Management, Candace Boeninger, said the division of enrollment management expected to have more than 25,000 applications submitted by May 1 for the 2023-24 academic year, which is more than last year's numbers.
