I'm not a doctor...: Fantasy realm lets us pass bills, concoct recipes

Saturday, in some parallel universe, C.J. Wilson (in a Los Angeles Angels uniform) and Yu Darvish (in a Texas Rangers uniform) were both starting pitchers for the same team on the same day. Miguel Cabrera (of the Detroit Tigers) manned first base while Jimmy Rollins (from the Philadelphia Phillies) and Dee Gordon (from the L.A. Dodgers) shared shortstop.

The Pick of the Week this week recognizes the strong presentations of sports pages so far this quarter. Notoriously overcrowded with ads and too many stories, the sports page can be a challenge to design. In the past few papers, however, sports has followed clean, organized and inviting page design, playing photos large and offering other visual entry points into the story. Here is an idea for a person interested in starting a business, maybe at the former Blue Gator. The investor or investors can open a 7-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year karaoke bar. The downstairs can be the karaoke bar and upstairs can be room for a juice bar and a massage room.

Being hit with tear gas in the bottom of Baker Center; suing and being sued by the university; pissing off local ministers, athletics coaches and politicians; rarely if ever showing up for class (don’t even bring up GPAs), and, of course, being the envy (and favorite mocking target) of all of the Scripps kids studying those “other” kinds of journalism.
