Editor's note: This is the sixth in an eight-part series describing the evaluations of Ohio University deans. Seven of the 10 deans who head OU's colleges were formally evaluated this year and an eighth called for his own review.

Your Turn: OU needs to believe in the future of Student Senate

This is not a letter of support for one candidate over another. This is a letter in support for the institution that is Student Senate. This institution, like all others, has its ups and downs throughout time. Currently, we are at a low point. The question that voters will have this week is whether or not Student Senate is worth saving for the future. If Will (the Birthday Party) is elected, I take him at his word, he will seek a complete destruction of the senate and the formation of a new body; the aftermath of such a move will be uncertain. If we elect Michael (AAA), the senate may still spike downward, but the outlook for future senates will be optimistic because the structure of the institution, which has produced good times (most recently under the leadership of Brian Footer), will remain intact. Students of Ohio University, I ask you to believe in the institution of Student Senate, I implore to think about the future of Student Senate ' not just the present ' and I plead of you to be willing to go through bad times so that good times can occur. Give future senates a chance at life.

Your Turn: Birthday Party promises student input 'at all levels'

I was pleased to read The Post's endorsement of Will Klatt and the Birthday Party for Student Senate. As a current member of Student Senate, I have seen this year's senate accomplish many good things but find ourselves tangled by the process on some issues. The Birthday Party's platform of adding more guaranteed, concrete student input at all levels of the decision-making process sets them apart. While Will Klatt will certainly have some growing to do in the position, I strongly believe his unrivaled track record of activism on the behalf of students and his commitment to working for more student influence in the university's decision-making process makes him the best choice for president and I look forward to voting for him on Thursday.

Stranger in a Strange Land: Finding freedom outside America

I do not fit in. If any one idea has been made abundantly clear to me during my four years in Athens, it is this one. I do not have even close to the ideal, slim body. I am not one to go out drinking or partying more than once a week. I am not satisfied with achieving the average in my classes. I am not free to relax when my classes and homework are done because next I have to consider my extra-curricular activities and my job.

Birthday Party just talks, AAA takes action

I just want to say one thing: talk is cheap. What Ohio University Student Senate needs is not more speeches, not more grandstanding, not more photo opportunities, but plain and simple action. Hard work. Getting down in the trenches and fighting for real, substantive change. But too often during Student Senate elections, people go for whoever is the loudest voice out there. They vote for the face of dissent. The problem is that we don't need more faces, because change requires more than a face, a cheap smile and a bag of rhetoric. It requires a body ' and oh yeah, a mind.
