Alex Trebek, longtime host of the game show “Jeopardy!,” passed away peacefully in his home Nov. 8, at age 80. Trebek was the host of “Jeopardy!” for 36 years. As the show’s host, Trebek was known for being sharp, quick-witted and a bit snarky when contestants got answers wrong that he deemed easy. It was this fun-loving and challenging attitude that made the show entertaining and made it oh-so tempting to play along from home.

Zach Sobiech had a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma. He passed away in May of 2013 at the young age of 18. Before his death, Sobiech recorded the song "Clouds" and posted it on YouTube in December of 2012.

Polly Creech thinks that plants positively affect mental health, especially in the middle of a pandemic. As the owner of Hyacinth Bean Florist, 540 W. Union St., she’s heard customers say that they feel depressed or anxious, but when they're taking care of their plants, they feel grounded. Creech also tells her customers that plants clean the air, so it's beneficial to have plants in their home environment.

On Friday, the world lost Chadwick Boseman, one of the most important actors of his generation. Immediately, eulogies poured out from across the internet from vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris to Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and countless other celebrities and fans alike. A common theme emerged across those eulogies: those who knew him paid tribute to a quiet, confident man whose intellectual curiosity and wit impressed everyone with whom he crossed paths.

The Killers peaked with its debut album, and some may never move past that. 2004’s Hot Fuss — enveloping classics like “All These Things That I’ve Done” and “Mr. Brightside,” the latter of which you can never go to a party without hearing — will forever be remembered as one of the finest of the 2000s. Though there have been a few bumps in the road ever since, the latest, Imploding The Mirage, shows The Killers still has that flair for making irreplaceable gems.

Kehlani Parrish’s rise to fame in the R&B genre has been a vicious journey and deserves a round of applause. The Oakland, California, native comes from humble roots, born to a drug-addicted household and raised by her aunt after her mother was imprisoned. Her initial aspirations were to become a professional dancer, but soon, those ambitions turned into a music career after a serious knee injury.
