Ohio legislators seek assistance

In a letter to President George Bush Tuesday, U.S. Senators Mike DeWine and George Voinovich from Ohio, pushed for the approval of federal disaster assistance to Athens County. Their letter supports Gov. Bob Taft's similar Jan. 16 request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

New interim director plans to continue with old initiatives

Gov. Bob Taft appointed Jennifer Simon interim director of the Governor's Office of Appalachia last week. Simon has been the assistant director since 1999 and replaces Joy Padgett, who was recently appointed to the Ohio Senate.
