Copperheads suffer close loss to All-Americans at home
July 27, 2005When it came down to it, errors caused more problems for the Southern Ohio Copperheads than Tuesday's scorching heat, resulting in a 2-1 loss to the Columbus All-Americans. Still fighting for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer Conference league, the Copperheads hosted the first place All-Americans at Bob Wren Stadium on Tuesday. Before game time, the Copperheads were trailing the Grand Lake Mariners by three games for the sixth spot. With six games remaining on their schedule, a great deal was at stake before the game even started.The All-Americans scored their only 2 runs in the first inning; and it was all they needed to cruise out of Athens with a win. Dallas Puskar, Denison, was the starting pitcher for the Copperheads. While that position was solidified, numerous injuries forced the team to reorganize its player positioning. Jason Selhorst, Ohio, stepped up to play outfield when teammate Jared Perdue, Shawnee State, was unable to make it to the game because of car problems.

July 20, 2005At Quilt National 2005, the quality and vibrant colors of the quilts are just as striking as the ability of the gallery space to reflect the essence of the exhibit. The Dairy Barn Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center retains the atmosphere of a barn while functioning as an art gallery, just as the Quilt National quilts retain many of the conventions of traditional quilts but function as art.
